The physicist (Kent Larsen PhD 329-5435) is responsible for insuring the accuracy and reliability of the machines and the computer generated treatment plans.

There is an extensive and complex QA (quality assurance) program to insure the safe delivery of high dose radiation.

The dosimetrist (Lisa Fernandez  329-5451) runs the computer plans that determine the optimal way to safely deliver the radiation to target the cancer and avoid the normal structures.
